Imsil County, Hydrangeas in Full Bloom at Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park
Planting of Summer Flowers Such as Sunflowers, Angelonia, and Marigolds
On September 1, Imsil County in North Jeolla Province announced that hydrangeas, the representative flowers of summer, are in full bloom at Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park, the county's leading tourist destination.
The Limelight hydrangeas planted along the metasequoia road display a unique charm as their subtle light green hue gradually turns to pure white, brightening the tranquil forest path with vibrant colors.

In addition, the planting of summer flowers such as sunflowers, angelonia, and marigolds has been completed, allowing visitors to enjoy not only hydrangeas but also a variety of summer blossoms.
This year, the county is also actively promoting a supplementary project for Bungeo Island Ecological Park, continuing efforts to provide beautiful scenery with various flowers and trees throughout all four seasons, as well as improving convenience for visitors.
Despite the lingering late-summer heat, cooling fog systems have been installed to ensure visitors can comfortably enjoy Bungeo Island Ecological Park. The twelve cooling fog installations help alleviate the last of the summer heat and offer a unique experience of strolling through refreshing water mist.
Additionally, around the existing pond deck, the county plans to plant 1,170 iris pseudacorus, as well as lotus flowers, primroses, and tri-color willows, among other diverse waterside plants.
In the Shinnamu Forest, 140 hydrangea bushes will be planted, while the peony garden will be enhanced with 100 Cornelian cherry trees, 1,200 azalea bushes, and Japanese maple trees, promising even greater enjoyment for visitors to Bungeo Island Ecological Park.
Bungeo Island Ecological Park reopened on August 19 to plant seasonal flowers and conduct safety inspections of facilities, aiming to offer unique scenery each season. Since reopening, the number of tourists has steadily increased not only on weekends but also on weekdays, reflecting the growing popularity of both Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park.
In October last year, the opening of a local agricultural product shop and a cafe to expand the previously insufficient amenities also contributed to the rise in visitor numbers.
