Father of Perpetrator Who Defamed "Japanese Sword Murder" Victim Appeals Suspended Sentence from First Trial
The father of the perpetrator, who received a suspended sentence in the first trial for posting comments disparaging the victim of the so-called "Japanese Sword Murder Case," has filed an appeal.
On August 29, the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 9 (Presiding Judge Kim Minjeong) announced that it had received an appeal the previous day from Baek (69), who was sentenced in the first trial to one year in prison with a two-year suspension for defamation of the deceased.
Baek is accused of posting online comments 23 times between August and September last year, claiming that "the victim of the Japanese Sword Murder Case was a Chinese spy."
