BTS's 'DNA' Certified Double Platinum by Recording Industry Association of Japan
The group BTS has received a "Double Platinum" certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan for their song "DNA."
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on August 28, the title track "DNA" from BTS's "LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her," released in September 2017, surpassed 200 million cumulative streams in July, earning a "Double Platinum" certification in the streaming category.
With this achievement, BTS now holds their sixth "Double Platinum" certified song, following "Dynamite," "Permission to Dance," "Butter," "Boy With Luv," and "Stay Gold."
The Recording Industry Association of Japan grants certifications every month based on cumulative streams: Gold (over 50 million), Platinum (over 100 million), Double Platinum (over 200 million), and Diamond (over 500 million).
"DNA" delivers the message that "the two of us have been destined to be together since the beginning, united as one from our DNA." The song combines electro-pop sounds with acoustic guitar to vividly express the passion and love of youth.
BTS entered the Billboard Hot 100, the main singles chart in the United States, for the first time with "DNA." The album "LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her," which includes the track, also charted on the Billboard 200, the main albums chart. At the time, BTS became the first Korean artist to be ranked simultaneously on both the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200.
