Facing Financial Hardship in Changwon
On August 26, the Social Contribution Committee of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam delivered a consolation fund of 10 million won to descendants of local independence activists in Changwon Special City who are facing financial difficulties, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
The donation ceremony was attended by Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor, Park Jungwoo, Chairman of the Social Contribution Committee, Song Jeonga, Vice Chairman, and others.
Chairman Park stated, "Marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation, I find it meaningful to be able to offer some comfort to independence activists who dedicated themselves to the nation and their descendants. Through this donation, we wanted our business community to convey that we will not forget the spirit of those who sacrificed for the country, and that both society and entrepreneurs remember their descendants. Going forward, we will continue to pursue various initiatives to support those who made sacrifices for the nation, with ongoing interest and affection."
The Social Contribution Committee was launched in April last year and currently has 27 members, including Chairman Park Jungwoo and Vice Chairman Song Jeonga. To date, the committee has promoted support projects such as overcoming low birth rates, helping undernourished children, supporting cultural activities for people with disabilities, overseas volunteering in Cambodia, assisting abused children, and supporting self-reliant youths. In the future, the committee plans to collaborate with local organizations and institutions to implement social contribution projects in various fields, including support for children with rare and incurable diseases, elderly people living alone, girl heads of households, and families of national merit.
