Visit to the Insight Memory Care Center
Kim Hye-kyung, who is visiting the United States with President Lee Jae-myung, visited the Insight Memory Care Center, a dementia-specialized welfare institution located in Virginia, on the afternoon of the 25th (local time). According to Deputy Presidential Spokesperson An Gwi-ryeong, Kim listened to a briefing on the facility's current status and observed the operation of its treatment programs.
The Insight Memory Care Center is the only nonprofit welfare institution in Washington, D.C. and its surrounding areas that provides care services for patients with severe dementia, offering customized programs tailored to each stage of the disease.
Kim noted that the center operates separate programs to improve the quality of life not only for patients but also for their families. She praised the efforts of the Insight Memory Care Center, stating that they make the local community happier and healthier. Kim also remarked that the suffering of dementia patients and their families is severe not only in the United States but also in Korea, and expressed her commitment to applying the insights gained from this visit to dementia care practices in Korea.
Kim then personally observed the operation of treatment programs such as art, play, exercise, and music. Deputy Spokesperson An stated, "Kim participated in a ball-tossing activity with the program participants and enjoyed listening to Korean songs such as 'Arirang' and 'Island Baby.' Throughout the music session, Kim held one participant's hand tightly and conveyed her warm wishes for their continued good health."
