Gwangju Office of Education Supports University Admissions for Out-of-School Youth
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education held a career and college admissions support event to assist out-of-school youth in preparing for university entrance exams.
On the 25th, the Office announced that it hosted the "Gwangju Out-of-School Youth Career and College Admissions Expo" at the Gwangju Out-of-School Youth Support Center in Hwajeong-dong. This event is co-organized by the city of Gwangju and the Out-of-School Youth Support Center, and has been held annually since 2017.
This year’s expo, held under the theme "Out-of-School Youth, Designing the Future," featured the provision of admissions information, college entrance briefings, and counseling sessions. Eighteen universities from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, including Chonnam National University, Chosun University, and Gwangju National University of Education, operated consultation booths to provide admissions information, and over 30 career and vocational experience organizations participated. Seo Jeomgwon, a teacher at Seolwol Girls’ High School and head of the Gwangju Admissions Support Team, led a "Customized University Admissions Briefing for Out-of-School Youth," offering guidance on the 2026 admissions process, strategies for GED passers to prepare for the College Scholastic Ability Test and university admission, and tips for gaining acceptance to universities in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.
The Office of Education will conduct one-on-one personalized admissions counseling for about 50 out-of-school youth at the Out-of-School Youth Support Center on the 30th. Twelve current admissions counselors will participate in this session, which will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This year, the team of counseling teachers was expanded compared to last year, and the admissions tracks that out-of-school youth expressed interest in were analyzed in advance. In addition, a GED score conversion program developed in 2023 has been applied, enabling counseling based on university-specific converted scores. Youth who wish to receive counseling can register on-site on the day of the event.
