Daegu Chilseong Elementary Wins President's Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament, Defeats Gyeonggi Baekma Elementary 7-5 in Final
The Daegu Chilseong Elementary School (Principal: Gong Youngsoon) baseball team claimed victory at the 2nd President's Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament, achieving back-to-back national championships following their win at the 2025 U-12 National Youth Baseball Tournament.
On August 16, at the final held at Gwangju Mudeung Baseball Stadium, Daegu Chilseong Elementary defeated Gyeonggi Baekma Elementary School 7-5 to secure the championship trophy. This tournament featured 32 teams-26 teams that achieved outstanding results at the 2024 National Elementary School Baseball Tournament and 6 teams recommended by city and provincial associations-competing in a knockout format.

View original imageChilseong Elementary narrowly advanced through the rounds, winning 3-2 against Busan Suyeong Elementary in the round of 16 and 5-4 against Gwangju Suchang Elementary in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they defeated Seoul Galsan Elementary 4-3 to reach the final.
In the championship game, the team faced challenges in managing their pitchers due to restrictions on consecutive pitching and injuries. However, starting pitcher Lee Seojun (6th grade) and relief pitcher Baek Juwon (5th grade) delivered stable performances on the mound. On offense, Lee Jaeseung (6th grade) hit a timely double in the second inning, and Lee Doyoon (6th grade) drove in two runs with a clutch hit in the third inning, securing the victory.
Head coach Lee Sangho stated, "Since the players have already experienced winning, I told them to just enjoy themselves this time," adding, "I tried to relieve the pressure on the players as much as possible."
