On August 17, S-OIL announced that its Incheon Terminal had received the highest rating, Grade P, in the Process Safety Management (PSM) assessment conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This marks an upgrade from the previous S grade, and now all S-OIL directly operated terminals have achieved the P grade, reflecting the company’s systematic efforts in safety management.

The PSM system is a certification program in which the government evaluates the establishment and implementation of safety management systems at workplaces every four years to prevent major industrial accidents. The evaluation results are classified into four grades: ▲P (Progressive), ▲S (Stagnant), ▲M+ (Mismanagement+), and ▲M- (Mismanagement-). Among these, the P grade is only awarded to workplaces that meet extremely strict criteria, with only about 10 out of more than 600 hazardous material sites in the metropolitan area receiving this distinction. Facilities with a P grade are recognized as exemplary cases and are qualified to provide mentoring and coaching to other workplaces.

The S-OIL Incheon Terminal has continuously conducted safety awareness training, job hazard assessment education, and chemical hazard assessment education to enhance safety awareness among its employees. In addition, the company has promoted participation in PSM-related activities and gathered feedback from on-site workers through safety culture surveys, weekly meetings, and suggestion systems, thereby fostering a culture of PSM implementation. S-OIL has also strictly complied with relevant laws and regulations, and has developed and applied guidelines for equipment inspection, testing, maintenance, safety work permits, and pre-operation checks at its sites.

An S-OIL representative stated, "Achieving the P grade is above all the result of prioritizing safety as our top value and continuously fostering a culture of systematic management and voluntary participation," adding, "We will further advance our safety management systems to realize a workplace free of accidents."
