[Breaking] Landslide Warning Issued for Namyangju, Yangju, Gapyeong, and Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province
Evacuation Order Issued for Residents in Sang-myeon, Gapyeong County
The Korea Forest Service issued a landslide warning at approximately 12:40 a.m. on August 13 for the northern Gyeonggi Province regions of Yangju, Gapyeong, and Pocheon.

View original imageIn particular, residents of mountainous and vulnerable areas in Sang-myeon, Gapyeong County, were ordered to evacuate immediately to designated shelters or safe zones.
Currently, heavy rain warnings are in effect for these areas.
As of 1:00 p.m., recorded precipitation levels include 204.0 mm in Jangheung, Yangju; 173.0 mm in Gwangneung, Pocheon; 144.0 mm in Gwangtan, Paju; 119.0 mm in Onam, Namyangju; and 93.0 mm in Jojong, Gapyeong.
Gapyeong County sent an emergency disaster alert stating, "Due to the issuance of a landslide warning for the Sang-myeon area of Gapyeong County, all residents of mountainous and vulnerable areas are ordered to evacuate to designated shelters or safe zones in each village."

Previously, on July 20, Gapyeong experienced a landslide caused by torrential rainfall of up to 76 mm per hour, resulting in seven fatalities and significant damage.
