Mayor Lee Jangwoo: "The Daejeon Social Service Institute Is a Vital Organization for Those in Need"

I am grateful." He added, "Just as it is important for people to keep their promises, I will ensure that the Daejeon-style wage system for social welfare workers is successfully implemented."
Mayor Lee made these remarks on August 7 during a meeting arranged to directly communicate with young employees of the Daejeon Social Service Institute, share his governing philosophy, and provide an opportunity for young staff to voice their experiences from the field.
On this day, more than 30 people attended the event, including Mayor Lee Jangwoo, Kim Jongmin, Director of Welfare at Daejeon City, Kim Insik, Director of the Daejeon Social Service Institute, and young employees. Together, they celebrated the achievement of ranking first nationwide for two consecutive years in the Social Service Center Management Evaluation led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and shared a sense of pride as public officials.
In particular, Mayor Lee expressed his gratitude to the employees working on the front lines of citizen care, and gave a positive evaluation of the innovative operations that are leading the nation and the high satisfaction among social service users.
The young employees shared their appreciation for the support provided by Mayor Lee's 8th popularly elected administration in Daejeon, which allowed them to focus on their work environment, as well as their personal impressions of Daejeon's policies as local youth.
An Seongon, a deputy manager raising two children, said, "Thanks to the Daejeon-style basic childcare allowance, the burden of childcare has been greatly reduced, and it has been a tremendous support for parents."
Park Yujeong, a newlywed deputy manager, also commented, "The 5 million won marriage incentive was a huge help in starting our newlywed life, and I trusted the mayor so much that I registered my marriage right away," drawing laughter from the audience.
Lee Areum, a deputy manager with long-term service at the Social Service Institute, remarked, "This improvement in treatment for Social Service Institute employees has instilled a sense of pride among field staff."

Furthermore, Jang Jaemin, a deputy director who was an early member at the time of the institution's founding, emphasized, "The unprecedented rise in the institution's performance since the start of the 8th popularly elected administration is thanks to the administrative and budgetary support from the mayor and Daejeon City."
Director Kim Insik said, "This meeting went beyond simple communication, serving as an opportunity for young employees of the Daejeon Social Service Institute to truly experience the city's governing philosophy and to strengthen their sense of mission and pride as public servants." He added, "I would like to express my gratitude to Daejeon City for its unwavering support."
