Kim Dongyeon Meets Gyeonggi Senior Citizens Association, Vows to Strive for a Life of Respect for Seniors
Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim met with the chairpersons of the Gyeonggi Province Federation of the Korean Senior Citizens Association and promised to strive for a “life of respect for seniors,” including efforts to further increase the current 180,000 won operating subsidy for senior centers next year.
On August 7, at Dodamso in Paldal-gu, Suwon, Governor Kim met with Im Heonwoo, president of the Gyeonggi Province Federation of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, and 36 other chairpersons. He said, “This summer was extremely hot, but we provided an emergency support fund of 21.2 billion won for cooling costs at senior centers, village halls, and cooling shelters for vulnerable groups, so I hope our seniors were able to benefit. We also raised the operating subsidy for senior centers to 180,000 won this year, and I will work to increase it further next year.”
He added, “I will continue striving to do the very best for seniors in Gyeonggi Province, with respect, and to set the highest standard in Korea. Today, I prepared a simple meal with dishes created by King Jeongjo, who was known for his filial piety, for his mother Lady Hyegyeong Hong, and I wanted to serve you with that same heart.”
