KOSHA Busan Headquarters Conducts On-Site Inspections to Prevent Heatwave and Construction Machinery Accidents
Emphasis on the Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules and Equipment Inspection Checklists
The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Jeong Jongdeuk) conducted safety inspections at high-risk construction sites to prevent serious accidents that may occur during heatwaves and while operating construction machinery (drilling rigs).
The agency visited a construction site located in Dongnae-gu to check the management status of rest facilities and the installation of cooling devices. They also listened to workers' opinions and recommended that workers take sufficient breaks.
In addition, the agency distributed 'heatwave prevention kits' that can be used for emergency measures during heatwaves, and strongly urged strict compliance with the 'five basic heatwave safety rules': water, shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency response.
In light of recent serious accidents caused by entrapment during drilling rig operations, the agency also conducted equipment inspections at the site. They emphasized the importance of conducting risk assessments with worker participation before starting work, and of using equipment inspection checklists to prevent safety accidents in advance.
