Chungnam Election Commission Reports Mr. A for Suspected Violation of Entrusted Election Act
In the by-election for the cooperative president, a candidate identified as Mr. A, who attempted to run for office, has been reported to the police on suspicion of violating the Act on the Election of Public Officials Entrusted by Public Organizations (hereinafter referred to as the Entrusted Election Act).
The Chungnam Provincial Election Commission stated that Mr. A, who intended to run in the cooperative president by-election, is accused of visiting the homes of numerous cooperative members or calling them from early last month, prior to the official election campaign period, to ask for their support in the upcoming election. He is also accused of providing 100,000 won in cash to a cooperative member identified as Mr. B.
According to Articles 24, 38, and 58 of the Entrusted Election Act, the subjects, period, and methods of election campaigning are strictly regulated, and any act of bribery toward voters is strictly prohibited.

A representative of the Chungnam Election Commission stated, "In cooperative president elections, where the number of voters is small, illegal campaigning and acts of bribery can have a significant impact on the election and seriously undermine its fairness. We will take strict action against similar cases if detected," and added, "We ask for active reporting and tips in case of any violations."
