Special Prosecutor Park Jiyoung stated during a briefing that "the special investigation team requested Speaker Woo's cooperation as a reference witness, as he is both a victim and the representative of the institution that lifted the unconstitutional and unlawful martial law. We discussed the timing and method of the investigation," adding, "Speaker Woo has agreed to appear in person at the special prosecutor's office this Thursday to cooperate with the investigation."
Park further explained, "Since the Special Act on Insurrection allows for the investigation of arrests and destruction within the National Assembly, all aspects in which Speaker Woo is a victim will be investigated. In addition, the reasons why certain lawmakers, regardless of party affiliation, did not participate in the vote must also be investigated."
The special investigation team also requested that Cho Kyungtae, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, appear as a reference witness on August 11. Lawmaker Cho accepted the request and informed the special investigation team that he would attend.
