View original imageThe Gwangju University RISE Project Group announced on the 4th that it recently held the "1st Urban Campus Living Lab Operation Council" and officially began establishing a joint implementation system for identifying local issues and promoting Living Lab projects.
The "Urban Campus Living Lab Operation Council" is centered around the Gwangju University RISE Project Group and includes participation from more than 10 organizations and groups such as the Gwangju Urban Regeneration Village Cooperation Center, Gwangju Design Center, Gwangju Technopark, Songwon University, Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, KBC Gwangju Broadcasting, Nam-gu Residents' Autonomy Association, and a panel of specialized professors.
During this council, Living Lab promotion plans and implementation strategies aimed at solving various local issues were shared. Discussions focused on a campus-based Living Lab governance model in which residents, experts, and administrative agencies participate together, connecting the processes of problem identification, demonstration, and policy proposal.
In particular, the council plans to derive practical models for solving local problems by the end of this year through competitions and student-participation projects based on a variety of topics, including urban regeneration, living environments with companion animals, youth inflow and residential environments, and smart cities and public services.

Noh Sunshik, head of the Gwangju University RISE Project Group, stated, "Through this council, we will strengthen our connection with the local community and build an integrated model that extends from Living Lab implementation to policy adoption." He added, "We will do our best to create a sustainable foundation for regional innovation, made together with local residents, experts, and students."
