"Engineering Geology," according to Clarivate's Journal Citation Reports (JCR), ranks second out of 65 journals in the Engineering, Geological category (top 2.3%) as a Q1 journal. It is recognized worldwide for its influence in the fields of geohazards, slope stability, and debris flow modeling.
In this study, Song Changho proposed an empirical coefficient based on the Froude number to more accurately predict the dynamic impact pressure of debris flow on structures.
This research is highly regarded for its academic contribution, as it systematically derived the coefficient values through hydraulic model experiments and numerical analysis.
In particular, the study enables a more quantitative assessment of debris flow impact pressure under high Froude number conditions compared to existing methods. It is expected to make a practical contribution to improving design standards for mountain disaster prevention facilities and to the development of risk analysis models in the future.
Song Changho conducted this research as a member of the "Marine Urban Disaster and Hazard Mitigation Technology Education and Research Team," which is supported by the Ministry of Education's 4th phase BK21 project, achieving outstanding results.
