Defense Ministry: South Korea-U.S. Defense Ministers to Hold Coordination Call Soon
First Official Communication Between Defense Ministers Under Lee Jaemyung Administration If Arranged
It has been reported that Defense Minister Ahn Kyubaek will soon hold his first official coordination call with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth since taking office.
On the 30th, the Ministry of National Defense stated, "A coordination call between the defense ministers of South Korea and the United States is scheduled to take place soon," adding, "Details will be announced later." If the call is arranged, it will mark the first official communication between the two countries' defense ministers since the inauguration of the Lee Jaemyung administration.
During this upcoming coordination call, the two ministers are expected to reaffirm their commitment to the strong South Korea-U.S. alliance, as is customary in such calls. They are also likely to discuss and review the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and in the region, as well as confirm and maintain the combined defense posture.
