KGM Partners with Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute for Autonomous Driving Technology Collaboration
Collaboration on Vehicle Driving Performance Testing and Evaluation
On July 29, KG Mobility announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute for the development of autonomous driving technology and agreed to cooperate with each other. The MOU signing ceremony, which took place on July 28 at the headquarters of the Institute in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, was attended by Kwon Yongil, Head of the KGM Technology Research Center, Seo Jaehyung, President of the Institute, and other related officials.
The Institute, established in 2014, is a specialized testing organization created to support companies and research institutions developing next-generation automotive technologies such as autonomous vehicles. It possesses facilities and testing personnel for various types of automotive driving tests and impact durability tests, including a high-speed circuit and general-purpose test tracks.
KGM expects that this collaboration will not only enable it to respond to autonomous driving-related European regulations and standards, but also help secure mass production technologies for autonomous vehicles and enhance the efficiency of technology development. In addition, both companies have agreed to actively cooperate in terms of testing equipment, personnel, and resources for vehicle driving performance tests and evaluations.
In particular, KGM believes that it will be possible to conduct joint research and secure mass production technologies for NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) related standards, such as driver monitoring, misuse prevention, and real-road testing, which will be strengthened after 2026 as part of the evaluation framework for the popularization of Level 3 autonomous vehicles.
