View original imageOn the 23rd, Jeollanamdo Governor Kim Youngrok formally requested the German company Linde, which signed an $800 million investment agreement with Jeollanamdo and Hanyang in May 2023, to move forward with the project in earnest.
In the afternoon, Governor Kim met with Vinod Patwari, President of Linde Asia Pacific, in Yeouido, Seoul, to discuss the direction for fostering the hydrogen industry and future investment plans.
Jeollanamdo is prioritizing hydrogen energy as a future strategic industry, and is accelerating the establishment of a full-cycle industrial ecosystem for hydrogen production, storage, and utilization through close cooperation with related companies.
During the meeting, Governor Kim stated, "I hope the hydrogen production investment plan agreed upon in 2023 will be realized as soon as possible," and added, "The province will do its utmost to provide policy support to ensure Linde's investment proceeds smoothly."
In 2024, Jeollanamdo designated the Myodo area in Yeosu as a Hydrogen Opportunity Development Zone and is stepping up efforts to foster a clean energy industry centered on hydrogen. The province is also making every effort to attract related industries and build the necessary infrastructure in line with the government's hydrogen economy promotion policy.
