Jeollanam-do Allocates Additional 605.6 Billion Won in Second Supplementary Budget for Livelihood Stabilization
Focusing on Livelihood Support with Consumption Coupons and Local Love Gift Certificates
Swift Implementation of Regional Industry Crisis Response Projects
Jeollanam-do announced that it has urgently prepared and submitted the 2nd supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, in line with President Lee Jaemyung's "People's Sovereignty Government" policy focus on economic stimulus and stabilizing people's livelihoods.
This supplementary budget proposal amounts to 13.6951 trillion won, an increase of 605.6 billion won (4.6%) compared to the previously established budget of 13.0895 trillion won. The general account has increased by 605 billion won (5.8%) to 10.9982 trillion won, while the special account has increased by 6 billion won (0.1%) to 1.1698 trillion won.
Despite difficult fiscal conditions, Jeollanam-do secured funding by utilizing reserve funds and the Integrated Fiscal Stabilization Fund to ensure the prompt and seamless implementation of livelihood recovery consumption coupons and local love gift certificate issuance support projects, which were included in the 1st and 2nd supplementary budgets of the central government.
To revitalize the local economy, which has been contracted due to high inflation, and to boost domestic consumption, the province allocated 512.1 billion won for "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons" and additionally allocated 78.5 billion won for "Local Love Gift Certificate Issuance Support," supporting discount compensation with the goal of issuing a total of 1.3 trillion won in gift certificates.
In addition, to overcome crises and secure competitiveness in the petrochemical and steel industries, the budget includes 7.8 billion won for the "Employment Slowdown Support Project" and 200 million won for the "Regional Industry Crisis Response Support Project."
Furthermore, 8.6 billion won has been allocated to the "Disaster Risk Area Maintenance Project" to install drainage pump stations and safety facilities in vulnerable areas such as rivers and steep slopes that are at risk of natural disasters. An additional 5.4 billion won for the "Drainage Improvement Project" and 4.1 billion won for the "National and Local Managed Embankment Repair Project" have been included to construct drainage stations and channels in farmland prone to frequent flooding, thereby expanding disaster prevention projects in response to frequent climate changes such as heavy rainfall.
Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated, "I hope this supplementary budget proposal will be a timely relief for households and the region amid difficult economic conditions. We will focus all our efforts on executing the budget for consumption coupons and other measures, and will continue to closely cooperate with the new government for the recovery of the local economy."
The supplementary budget proposal is scheduled to be finalized on the 28th after deliberation by the Provincial Council.
