Gwangsan District in Gwangju Launches Hometown Love Donation Campaign for Heavy Rain Recovery
Gwangsan District in Gwangju has launched a designated donation campaign through the Hometown Love Donation Program to support recovery from heavy rain damage and to assist local residents.
On July 22, Gwangsan District announced that, following a review by the Hometown Love Fund Management Deliberation Committee, the recent heavy rain recovery effort has been selected as a designated donation project. The district aims to raise 100 million won through this campaign.

View original imageDonations can be made until October 31 through the public platform "Hometown Love eum" and the private platform "WeGive." Donors will receive a tax deduction (full deduction up to 100,000 won, and 16.5% for amounts exceeding that) and a thank-you gift equivalent to 30% of the donation amount. WeGive can be accessed via the "Happy Point" app and the event page of the "L.Point" app. Additional benefits, such as ice cream coupons or points, are also available for donors.
Between July 17 and July 19, Gwangsan District recorded a total of 521 mm of rainfall over three days, resulting in 214 cases of damage, including flooded roads and landslides. As of the afternoon of July 19, 113 households and 178 people had been displaced. Gwangsan District is accepting reports of damage at each local administrative welfare center until July 30, and the scale of the damage is expected to increase.
