Police to Launch Intensive Crackdown on Overseas Technology Leakage Crimes
The National Office of Investigation of the Korean National Police Agency announced on July 23 that it will conduct intensive crackdowns on the overseas leakage and brokerage of core technologies and other important technologies until October.
Under the recently revised Industrial Technology Protection Act, the requirements for prosecuting overseas technology leakage crimes have been relaxed, and acts such as introducing, brokering, and enticing technology infringement have been newly added, thereby expanding the scope of punishable offenses.
To enhance the effectiveness of the crackdown, the police plan to establish a cooperative network with relevant domestic and international organizations and to recover all criminal proceeds uncovered during the investigation process.
