The employees and students personally placed convenient meal products and other essential items needed by each household into boxes, packed them, and visited local families with welfare center representatives to deliver the S-BOXes directly.
In particular, this volunteer activity provided an opportunity for students to directly participate in Gwangju Shinsegae's social contribution initiatives, allowing them to share a sense of responsibility as members of the local corporation.
Wearing volunteer vests marked with "Shinsegae Volunteer Group," the students engaged in meaningful volunteer work and expressed a sense of pride. The beneficiary families warmly welcomed the students' visits and repeatedly expressed their gratitude, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
The Love S-BOX program has been operated by Gwangju Shinsegae since 2017, in cooperation with five local welfare centers centered around the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation. The Love S-BOX consists of customized packages containing daily necessities and convenient meal products, and is delivered to 100 households every month. Gwangju Shinsegae has donated 5 million won every month for nine years, with the cumulative total reaching 540 million won as of this year.
Lee Donghun, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, "Although this is a monthly volunteer activity, the participation of students makes it even more meaningful," and added, "We will continue to fulfill our role and responsibility as a local corporation and carry out activities for mutual growth with the local community through social contribution initiatives such as the S-BOX program."
