Kim Keonhee Special Counsel Conducts Second Raid on Unification Church Seoul Headquarters in "Geonjin Bopsa Gate" Investigation
Additional Raid Conducted Following the Operation on the 18th
The special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki, which is investigating allegations related to First Lady Kim Keonhee, has launched a second raid on the Seoul headquarters of the Unification Church in connection with the so-called "Geonjin Bopsa Gate."
On the morning of July 21, the special prosecutor's team dispatched investigators to the Unification Church's Seoul headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to secure documentary materials and files stored on computers.
Previously, on July 18, the team had conducted simultaneous raids on various church facilities, including the Seoul headquarters, the main headquarters of the Unification Church located in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, and the Tongil Maintenance Foundation, which manages the business funds of the church.
The special prosecutor's team reportedly carried out the additional raid on this day because they had not yet completed forensic analysis of the evidence secured from the Seoul headquarters during the previous operation. Based on the physical evidence obtained, the team plans to investigate allegations that the Unification Church, through Jeon Seongbae?known as Geonjin Bopsa?made illicit requests to the First Lady.
Jeon is suspected of receiving gifts such as a diamond necklace and a Chanel bag from the Unification Church between April and August 2022, delivering them to the First Lady, and conveying the church's pending requests.

The person who delivered the gifts and requests to Jeon was identified as Yoon, a former global headquarters director of the Unification Church. According to the special prosecutor, Yoon asked Jeon to seek support for the church's Mekong River development project in Cambodia, the acquisition of YTN, the hosting of the United Nations Fifth Secretariat in Korea, and an invitation to the presidential inauguration, among other requests.
