Daewoong Pharmaceutical and Sears Technology Launch ESG Model 'Mobicare Refresh'
Practice of Circular Economy in Digital Healthcare
Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on the 17th that it has launched 'Mobicare Refresh', a reusable and refreshed version of the wearable electrocardiogram device Mobicare, in collaboration with Sears Technology.
Mobicare is a wearable continuous electrocardiogram device. It is a wireless product with an ultra-lightweight design, weighing only 19g, which allows for long-term electrocardiogram monitoring even during daily activities. Compared to conventional electrocardiogram tests, it can measure for up to nine days, helping to detect abnormal heart signals that are difficult to identify with short-term testing.
Previously, all wearable Holter devices, including Mobicare, required patients to visit the hospital to return the device after the test, and hospitals were responsible for direct disinfection and management.
'Mobicare Refresh' has alleviated this burden by introducing a courier collection service. Patients can return the device using a courier service that picks it up from their home. Hospitals can use the refreshed device as conveniently as a disposable product. The Mobicare Refresh Center cleans, sterilizes, and inspects the devices before reusing them, which has dramatically reduced the generation of medical waste. In addition, by reusing existing devices through the refresh process, the supply cost of the product has been reduced to the level of reusable devices, thereby lessening the financial burden on medical institutions.
Within just one year of its introduction, Mobicare Refresh has rapidly expanded to more than 100 major medical institutions nationwide, including Asan Medical Center, Gangnam Severance Hospital, and Korea University Anam Hospital, establishing itself as a successful example of ESG-based medical devices.

Lee Changjae, CEO of Daewoong Pharmaceutical, stated, "In the short term, there were burdens from increased costs and system establishment, but considering the intrinsic value of medical devices and a sustainable future, we boldly introduced 'Mobicare Refresh.' Going forward, we will continue to solve problems in the medical field and create a better healthcare environment through patient-centered technological innovation and ESG management."
