Intoxicated Honduran Diplomat Accused of Sexual Assault and Assault on Busan Subway
Booked Without Detention
While on Business Trip to Busan
It was belatedly revealed that an intoxicated Honduran diplomat was investigated by police for allegedly sexually assaulting and physically assaulting a male passenger on a Busan subway train.
On July 13, the Busan Haeundae Police Station announced that it had booked a male Honduran diplomat, referred to as A, without detention on charges of sexual assault and assault, and is currently investigating him.
A is accused of making physical contact with another male passenger, B, on Busan Metro Line 2 at around 6:30 a.m. on June 19, and then assaulting B after a dispute broke out. It is reported that A was heavily intoxicated at the time.
The police reportedly confirmed A's actions through CCTV footage from inside the train.
A, who works at the Honduran Embassy in Seoul, is said to have visited Busan on a business trip.
