Dongseo University Advanced Industry Academy Program Earns Top S Grade in 2024 Work-Study Dual System Performance Evaluation
A Leading Example of Nurturing Local Residency-Based Talent Through University-Industry Cooperation
Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) announced on July 9 that its Advanced Industry Academy program received the highest S grade in the 2024 Performance Evaluation of Joint Training Centers for Work-Study Dual System, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
This achievement demonstrates the university's excellence in nurturing industry-tailored talent through university-industry cooperation in advanced industrial fields and field-oriented technical training based on local residency.
Since its initial designation in 2017, the Dongseo University Joint Training Center for Work-Study Dual System has operated two programs: the IPP-type Work-Study Dual System and the Advanced Industry Academy. It currently has the largest number of participating companies and work-study trainees in the region.
The IPP-type Work-Study Dual System program also received an excellent A grade in the 2024 performance evaluation. The center holds an annual performance sharing event to recognize outstanding companies and students, strengthen university-industry networking, and foster mutually beneficial cooperative relationships between academia and industry.
In 2024, the Dongseo University Joint Training Center for Work-Study Dual System collaborated with a total of 374 companies, conducting 556 company visits and carrying out large-scale, close-knit university-industry cooperation activities that connect students with industrial sites.
These efforts have strengthened the foundation of trust between the university and local companies and served as a key driver in establishing a sustainable basis for nurturing local residency-based talent. As a result of these initiatives, 52 students from 28 companies improved their practical skills over the past year, with both participating companies and students expressing high levels of satisfaction.
Notably, the center achieved the highest ratings in key indicators such as the achievement rate of work-study trainees, participation rate of new work-study companies, participation rate of high-quality companies, employment retention rate of work-study companies, and satisfaction levels of both companies and trainees.
Jung Dowoon, Director of Student and Career Support, stated, "This evaluation result is the outcome of the Advanced Industry Academy and IPP-type Work-Study Dual System programs precisely connecting the university's specialization strategies with on-site demands. Moving forward, we will expand participating departments and companies, and establish a practical foundation for revitalizing local residency and increasing youth employment rates in connection with regional industrial growth."
Dongseo University is also integrating its own 'DSU READY System' for nurturing local residency-based youth talent with government and local government-linked projects such as the Glocal 30 Project, RISE Employment School, and Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp. Through this organic integration, the university operates career and employment-linked curricula, university-industry projects, and work experience-based practical training systems. These efforts strengthen students' adaptability and practical skills in the field, while continuously enhancing the university's status as a regional hub for university-industry cooperation in Busan.
