A major security breach has occurred in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, resulting in the leak of personal information belonging to more than 16 million individuals.
On July 4, according to the Kyrgyzstani media outlet Times of Central Asia (TCA), the well-known Telegram channel 'Securixy.kz,' which covers cybersecurity issues, exposed the incident in early June. This personal information leak is the largest in Kazakhstan's history, with a population of approximately 20 million.
In its report, Securixy.kz stated, "A file containing the personal information of about 16.3 million Kazakhstani citizens has been discovered," and explained that the file is packed with names, dates of birth, ID numbers, IIN (bank identification numbers), mobile phone numbers, and work numbers.

The Kazakhstani Ministry of Digital Development issued a statement saying, "We have already launched an investigation together with law enforcement and intelligence agencies," and added, "Initial analysis suggests that the information may have originated from private information systems."
