Inspection of 27 Pesticides Including Chlorothalonil
Results to Be Released on the Chungnam Institute of Health and Environment Website in September
The Chungnam Institute of Health and Environment announced on June 30 that it is conducting pesticide residue inspections on 32 golf courses in the province.
This inspection is being carried out in accordance with the Ministry of Environment's notification, "Regulations on the Survey of Pesticide Use and Methods for Inspecting Pesticide Residues in Golf Courses." The inspections are conducted twice a year?once during the dry season (April to June) and once during the rainy season (July to September).
The inspections involve collecting soil samples (from greens and fairways) and water samples (from ponds and final effluent) at the golf courses, and testing for residues of 27 types of pesticides, including chlorothalonil.
The results of the inspection will be available on the website of the Chungnam Institute of Health and Environment starting in September.
Jung Geumhee, Director of the Institute, stated, "We will continue to conduct thorough and ongoing inspections of golf courses in the province to promote environmentally friendly management," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that residents can use golf courses with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, last year's inspection found pesticide components such as azoxystrobin and carbendazim in 356 out of a total of 559 samples. The detection rate was 63.7%, which is about 10% lower than the 2023 detection rate of 73.9%.
