Gwangju University Forms 'Global Education Partnership' with 17 Mongolian High Schools and Universities

View original imageGwangju University announced on June 25 that it had successfully completed a five-day business trip to Mongolia, during which it signed MOUs with key high schools and universities affiliated with four major provincial governments in Mongolia, with which it has established a global education partnership.
The Gwangju University delegation, consisting of six members including President Kim Dongjin, Director of External Cooperation Kim Kyungtae, and Director of International Cooperation Choi Jisoo, signed comprehensive agreements on June 21 with 17 high schools and universities located in four provincial governments, including Chinggis City in Khentii Province, Mongolia.
Under the agreements, the two sides plan to actively promote language training and undergraduate student exchanges between the institutions, as well as exchanges of academic information and publications, joint research, and faculty and staff exchanges.
After the MOUs were signed, the delegation met with local students and parents to answer questions about Korean culture and studying abroad in Korea. They also held various discussions on educational partnerships with ministers and vice ministers of each region.
Munhjaragal, Mayor of Choibalsan City, stated, "Through ongoing exchanges such as mutual visits, we will strengthen our friendship. Reflecting the high enthusiasm for Korean language education in our region, we will actively cooperate in establishing institutions such as the King Sejong Institute."
President Kim Dongjin said, "I understand that Mongolian students are very interested not only in K-pop and Korean idols, but also in Gwangju, known as the 'sanctuary of democratization.' Gwangju University, with its capabilities in educational internationalization, will do its utmost to help students learn about democracy and various aspects of traditional Korean culture, and to enable them to focus on their studies in an advanced educational environment."
