Cheongyang County Expands 'Governor's Quality Certification System'... Increased Trust in Agricultural Products
This year, over 800 items including 298 farms, processed products, and honey certified
Goal to reach 300 farms by 2026, with tailored support measures underway
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province is accelerating the expansion of the 'Cheongyang County Governor's Quality Certification System' to enhance the competitiveness of local agricultural products.
Through this initiative, the county aims to provide consumers with safe and fresh food, while also increasing farmers' incomes and contributing to the realization of a virtuous economic cycle.
On June 20, the county held the '2025 1st Cheongyang County Governor's Quality Certification Management Committee' meeting and confirmed the farms and items eligible for quality certification this year.
During this review, 298 farms with 826 items in the agricultural and forestry sector, 2 companies with 8 processed products, and 6 farms producing honey received certification approval.
The 'Cheongyang County Governor's Quality Certification System' was first introduced in 2021, and the number of certified farms has increased each year.
It started with 103 farms in 2021, increased to 168 farms in 2022, 235 farms in 2023, and 283 farms in 2024.
This system applies strict standards, consisting of 15 items across 5 stages, which exceed the GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) criteria, and is characterized by its encouragement of environmentally friendly and safe agricultural production.
Certified agricultural products are mainly supplied to direct transaction markets, as well as to school and public meal service centers, earning high trust from consumers.
The county aims to increase the number of quality-certified farms to 300 by 2026. To achieve this, the county is implementing tailored policies, such as supporting 80% of the purchase cost for small packaging materials and 70% of the purchase cost for agricultural environment improvement equipment.
A county official stated, "We are actively promoting the governor's quality certification system in response to the rapidly changing distribution market," and added, "We will work to enhance consumer trust in Cheongyang agricultural products and contribute to a tangible increase in farmers' incomes by expanding to public meal service markets in major cities."
