"Strengthening Cooperation in Regional and Local Material Collection"... National Library of Korea to Visit Local Areas
"2025 Regional On-site Information Session"
to Be Held on June 27
The National Library of Korea announced on June 23 that it will hold the "2025 Regional On-site Information Session" at 2:00 p.m. on June 27 at the Gwangju Metropolitan Library. The event is aimed at public libraries and related organizations in the Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk regions to promote the collection of regional materials.
This information session has been organized to strengthen the cooperative system among the National Library of Korea, regional representative libraries, and public libraries for the collection and preservation of regional materials. Regional materials refer to publications produced within a region by local governments, public institutions, or private organizations. Each regional representative library collects and preserves these materials at the regional level, while the National Library of Korea does so at the national level.
The session will cover topics such as an introduction to the legal deposit (collection) system for regional materials, the role and direction of regional culture archive libraries, and a special lecture on reading-based communication for librarians. Participants are expected to share practical concerns and challenges related to the collection of regional materials.
