Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok, who is investigating the insurrection case, has additionally indicted former Minister of National Defense Kim Yonghyeon on charges including instigating the destruction of evidence. This marks the first indictment since the appointment of the third special prosecutor.
On June 19, Special Prosecutor Cho stated, "After completing the necessary preparations in cooperation with the police and the prosecution, we received the case records and officially launched the investigation on June 18. On the night of the same day, we indicted former Minister of National Defense Kim Yonghyeon for obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means and for instigating the destruction of evidence."
