Ansan City Seeks Citizen Proposals for New Names of Two Intersections Formerly Named After Demolished Buildings
Naming Contest for "Hyopseong Yeonrip Samgeori" and "Jugong 4-danji Sageori" Intersections
On June 18, 2025, the city of Ansan in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will be accepting citizen proposals until the 27th for new names for two intersections that currently use the names of buildings that have disappeared due to residential reconstruction projects.
The intersections subject to this naming contest are "Hyopseong Yeonrip Samgeori" at 993-7 Wongok-dong, Danwon-gu, and "Jugong 4-danji Sageori" at 906 Wongok-dong.
The city explained that it is pursuing the name changes because continuing to use the names of buildings that no longer exist, due to the completion of reconstruction projects, could cause confusion for road users.
Anyone residing in the city or affiliated with a corporation or organization within the city is eligible to participate. Participants can submit their entries online via Naver Form or email, or visit the Baegun-dong Administrative Welfare Center or the Construction, Roads, and Rivers Division in person to submit their proposals.
Proposed names must be clearly written in accordance with the orthographic rules and standard language regulations announced by the National Institute of the Korean Language. For more details, inquiries can be made to the city's Construction, Roads, and Rivers Division.
