The amended ordinance aims to ensure consistency with the "Smart Agriculture Promotion and Support Act" (Smart Agriculture Act), which was implemented last year, and includes practical support measures to strengthen the competitiveness of smart farm operators.
Legal consistency was secured by incorporating the terminology for smart agriculture as defined in the higher-level law into the ordinance. It also requires that the establishment and revision of smart agriculture promotion plans be announced through the Chungnam Provincial Government website. In addition, it specifies the basis for supporting education and training in the latest specialized technologies and professional consulting projects to promote the spread of smart farms.
In particular, to foster smart agriculture tailored to the circumstances of Chungnam, the ordinance stipulates that the Chungnam SSEN Agricultural Committee may act as the Smart Agriculture Promotion Committee.
Park Miok stated, "Smart agriculture, introduced to address traditional agricultural challenges such as declining productivity due to climate change and the aging of farmers, as well as labor shortages, relies most heavily on education and the application of advanced technologies."
She added, "This amendment was prepared to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of smart farm operators and the innovative growth of Chungnam agriculture by providing customized specialized technical education and professional consulting support tailored to Chungnam's circumstances. In addition, I hope it will lead to increased income for farmers and the development of the local economy."
Meanwhile, this partial amendment ordinance to the "Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Smart Agriculture" is scheduled for final deliberation at the fourth plenary session of the Provincial Council on June 24.
