This agreement aims to remodel the building of the school, which was closed in February, into an educational and cultural complex space that can be used by both local residents and students. In accordance with the agreement, the city, together with the Ansan Office of Education, plans to apply for the "2025 2nd School Complex Facility Public Project" organized by the Ministry of Education.
Through the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate to: ▲ create conditions for the promotion of the school complex facility project, ▲ share administrative and financial support and resources, ▲ establish a comprehensive plan for project implementation, and ▲ develop strategies to advance education in Ansan.
The planned complex facility will include: ▲ a community communication space, ▲ hobby activity spaces, ▲ project rooms, ▲ activity rooms in partnership with local universities, and ▲ self-directed learning spaces, all reflecting the opinions of local residents. The schoolyard will be repurposed as a parking area for residents.
Sujin Kim, Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Ansan Office of Education, said, "We will present a new model that recreates the value of closed schools and transforms them into hubs for the community."
