View original imageIn the first round of the "11th Asia Economy Honam Cup Junior Golf Championship," Sang Hyunjun (Kyungshin High School 2nd year) took first place in the men's division, while Sung Haein (Bomun High School 1st year) led the women's division.
On June 12 at Hwasun Country Club in Jeonnam (par 71, 6,376 meters), Sang Hyunjun shot a 6-under-par 65 with seven birdies and one bogey in the first round. In this opening round, Sang Hyunjun outperformed national team members and reserve players, taking a smooth first step toward victory. He holds a three-stroke lead over the second-place group.
The second-place group consists of Kim Yunhu (Hampyeong Golf High School 3rd year), Park Geonung (Seogang High School 3rd year), and Jung Woojin (Daeyeon High School 1st year), each shooting a 3-under-par 68. National team member Yoo Minhyuk (Seogang High School 2nd year), who was highly anticipated for this round, finished the first round at 2-under-par, tying for fifth place with Yoon Haseong (Yeongsan High School 3rd year) and Kim Minseong1 (Cheongju Shinhung High School 1st year). In addition, Yoon Yejun (Incheon Christian High School 1st year), Song Wooyoung (Mangwoon Middle School 3rd year), and Noh Seongmin (Sodam High School 2nd year) each shot a 1-under-par 70, joining the group of players under par.

View original imageIn the women's division, Sung Haein (Bomun High School 1st year) carded a 7-under-par 64 in the first round at the same course (par 71, 5,848 meters). Sung Haein delivered a flawless performance, collecting seven birdies without a single bogey.
The second-place group includes Lee Yunseo (Seomun Girls' High School 3rd year) and Pyo Songhyun (Suncheon Distance Learning High School 2nd year), both shooting a 3-under-par 68. Among the women's players, the reserve team members stood out, as all three reserve players occupied the first and second positions, demonstrating their abilities.
In fourth place are Kim Sei (Seoul Automotive High School 1st year) and Lee Dakyung (Hamyeol Girls' Middle School 3rd year), each with a 2-under-par 69. The sixth-place group, with 1-under-par 70, includes Yoon Yeeun (Jinseong Girls' High School 1st year), Park Jehee (Hamyeol Girls' High School 3rd year), and Park Yul (Seogang High School 2nd year), who all share the spot.
Yoo Ahyun (Seogang High School 3rd year), who claimed the women's championship trophy for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024 and was aiming for a third straight win this year, shot a 1-over-par 72 and is tied for 13th place.
Meanwhile, the final round of the "11th Asia Economy Honam Cup Junior Golf Championship" will begin at the same course at 6:10 a.m. on June 13.
