US Officially Deploys Marines to LA Protests to "Protect Federal Personnel and Property"
The U.S. Northern Command officially announced on June 9 (local time) that approximately 700 Marines would be deployed to the Los Angeles (LA) area to protect federal personnel and facilities, according to reports from CNN and other outlets.
This measure follows President Trump's order last weekend to mobilize 2,000 members of the National Guard. Currently, the number of National Guard troops deployed locally has reached 300. The Northern Command stated that the Marine unit has been on standby since the weekend and will now be officially deployed for operations.
