Full-Scale Launch of Osan Unamdeul AI City Urban Development... Gyeonggi Province Announces Development Plan
The 'Osan Unamdeul AI City Urban Development Project' in Osandong, Osan, Gyeonggi Province, will move forward in earnest.
On June 5, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had designated an urban development zone and established a development plan for the 'Osan Unamdeul AI City Urban Development Project,' which will be built on a 584,000-square-meter site in Osandong. The province also stated that it had officially announced these plans.
This announcement is regarded as a key milestone for attracting high-tech industries and realizing a future-oriented self-sufficient city that integrates residential, commercial, and cultural functions.
The Osan Unamdeul project was suspended due to an amendment to the Urban Development Act in 2021, which aimed to prevent excessive private development profits. However, after the law was revised again in July 2023 to postpone the implementation of the amended act for three years, the project resumed. Gyeonggi Province immediately began relevant procedures, including consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, passing the Urban Planning Committee's review, and concluding public-private agreements, all of which were carried out swiftly.
The project will develop an integrated and convergent urban area on approximately 180,000 pyeong of land, including 4,000 units of multi-family housing, urban support facilities, and complex commercial facilities.
The project cost is 704.4 billion won. Upon completion, it is expected to significantly contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs.
