Song Younghan's world ranking jumped by 39 places.
In the men's weekly world golf rankings announced on June 1 (local time), he earned 0.4962 points, moving up from 322nd last week to 283rd. He earned ranking points by tying for 2nd place (9-under-par 279) at the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) Mizuno Open (total prize money: 100 million yen), which concluded the previous day at the JFE Setonaikai Golf Club (par 72, 7,461 yards) in Kasaoaka, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

View original imageBy finishing in the top three at this tournament, Song Younghan qualified for The Open, a major championship to be held in July. He previously played in The Open in 2017 and 2024. He made the cut both times, finishing tied for 62nd in 2017 and tied for 72nd in 2024.
Scottie Scheffler (USA), winner of the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament, maintained his position as world number one. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas (all USA) held onto the 2nd through 5th spots.
