View original imageGwangju Transportation Corporation has once again demonstrated its outstanding technological capabilities to the public by successfully completing four years of control operations for the Seoul Sillim Line.
On June 2, Gwangju Transportation Corporation announced that it had stably concluded the "Seoul Sillim Line Light Rail Operation and Maintenance Project," which included technology transfer and personnel dispatch to Rotem SRS.
The Seoul Sillim Line Light Rail, which opened in May 2022, operates a total length of 7.8 kilometers from Yeouido Saetgang Station to Gwanaksan Station using an unmanned driving system. The corporation dispatched 18 employees to the site before and after the opening, and they carried out control operations and maintenance work until the end of last month.
In particular, since the Sillim Line uses the same rubber-tired and unmanned driving system as Gwangju Metro Line 2, which is currently under construction, the corporation expects that this successful experience will serve as a significant foundation for securing future growth engines, including the operation of Line 2 and training of new employees.
Jun Tae Kim, CEO of Rotem SRS, visited the headquarters in Mareuk-dong, Seo-gu, and presented a plaque of appreciation, saying, "I would like to thank Gwangju Transportation Corporation for providing great support, such as dispatching personnel and sharing operational know-how, which contributed to the successful operation of the Sillim Line."
Ik Moon Cho, president of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, stated, "We are pleased that our technological capabilities could contribute to the successful operation of the Sillim Line Light Rail," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to usher in a flawless era for Line 2."
