21st Presidential Election Early Voting Turnout Hits 5.24% at 10 a.m., Highest Ever
As of 10:00 a.m. on May 29, the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, the nationwide average voter turnout stood at 5.24%. This marks the highest turnout rate recorded at this time among all previous early voting periods.
The National Election Commission announced that, as of 10:00 a.m. on this day, 2,328,108 out of 44,391,871 eligible voters nationwide had participated in early voting.

Since the early voting system was first introduced for nationwide elections in the June 4, 2014 local elections, this is the highest turnout rate at this time for any nationwide election, excluding by-elections and re-elections.
So far, Jeonnam has recorded the highest turnout rate at 10.87%, followed by Jeonbuk at 9.81% and Gwangju at 8.83%. Daegu has reported the lowest turnout at 3.23%.

Early voting will take place over two days, from May 29 to May 30. Voting hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To participate in early voting, voters must bring a valid ID and visit an early voting site.
