"The sight of the two of you, drenched in sweat inside the ambulance,
was like a candle that saved my mother's life"
"The sight of the two of you, drenched in sweat inside the ambulance, was like a candle that saved my mother's life."
The story of two paramedics, Go Hyunjung and Jin Seongwan, both fire lieutenants at the 119 Rescue and Emergency Center of Buyeo Fire Station in South Chungcheong Province, who saved a life in a critical situation, was posted on the "Praise Board" of the Fire Department's website on the 22nd, quietly resonating with many.
According to the fire station on May 28, Hyun Seongcheol reported that on the 12th, his mother (in her 70s), who was living alone in the countryside, suddenly complained of chest pain and he called 119 for help.
Hyun's mother suddenly lost consciousness inside the ambulance and suffered cardiac arrest three times, but the two paramedics immediately began life-saving efforts without hesitation, performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator.
Hyun's mother overcame the cardiac arrests, eventually regained consciousness, and was able to remain stable even after arriving at the hospital.
Hyun said, "Three cardiac arrests is truly a crossroads between life and death... Without the dedication of these two, my mother would never have woken up again."
He continued, "The paramedics explained the transfer process in detail, and without even a moment to hear a word of thanks, they headed straight back to the field. I am truly grateful."
