View original imageThe Chungnam team is achieving strong results by winning gold medals day after day at the 54th National Youth Sports Festival.
According to the Chungnam Office of Education, as of May 25, the team has won 24 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals at the 54th National Youth Sports Festival, which is being held in various locations throughout Gyeongsangnam-do over four days from May 24 to May 27.
In particular, the team achieved remarkable results in weightlifting, a traditionally strong event for Chungnam, producing three triple gold medalists on the very first day. Jeong Hye Dam from Seonghwan Middle School set two new national records and one new event record in her division, while Shin Chaemin from Janghang Middle School set one new national record and two new event records in his division.
Lee So Jeong from Dangjin Middle School also became a triple gold medalist in weightlifting, bringing the total to 10 gold medals and 2 silver medals in weightlifting alone.
In judo, Lee Chae Yun from Cheongra Middle School and Shim Ji Min from Yeonmu Girls’ Middle School each claimed gold medals, demonstrating strong performances across various events.
Kim Jicheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education, said, "I am delighted that our student athletes are achieving excellent results day after day," emphasizing, "It is most important to do your best and participate in the competition to the end without injury." He also encouraged, "Compete fairly with your opponents and demonstrate good sportsmanship."
