GS Retail announced on May 26 that 'Senyang Oak Soju', which was launched at GS25 convenience stores in February, has surpassed a cumulative sales volume of 2 million bottles within three months of its release.
Senyang Oak Soju, which comes in a 640ml PET bottle, is the only diluted soju in Korea blended with oak barrel-aged rice distilled soju base (11%). According to GS25, this product currently ranks second in sales within its category, competing against major soju brands. The top-selling soju at present is 'Chamisul 640ml'.

View original imageWith the strong performance of Senyang Oak Soju, GS25's total soju sales over the past three months have increased by 18% compared to the same period last year. In particular, PET-bottled soju sales grew by 39.4%, driving overall sales growth.

GS25 is also introducing a new product in the bottled soju category as part of the expanded Senyang Oak Soju lineup. Yoon Jiho, liquor team MD (Merchandiser) at GS Retail, stated, "The addition of oak base to traditional soju to emphasize a richer flavor, as well as differentiated product strategies that reflect recent trends such as low-alcohol and zero-sugar options, have been key drivers behind the popularity of Senyang Oak Soju." He added, "We will continue to discover and nurture differentiated products like Senyang Oak Soju into mega-hit items, fulfilling our role as a leading alcoholic beverage purchasing platform."
