Yeongju City to Provide 1 Million Won in Household Expenses for Newlyweds in Their 20s... Applications Open from the 26th
Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province is launching a full-scale "household expense support project" for newlywed couples in their 20s, aiming to reduce the financial burden of marriage for young people and to foster a birth-friendly environment.
On May 26, Yeongju City announced the start of the "Marriage Congratulations and Household Expense Support Project for People in Their 20s," which provides 1 million won in household expenses to married couples where both partners are between the ages of 18 and 29. This project is one of the core initiatives of North Gyeongsang Province's "War on Low Birthrate Season 2" and is being introduced for the first time this year.
The eligibility criteria require that both partners of newlywed couples who have completed their marriage registration on or after January 1, 2025, must have had their resident registration in North Gyeongsang Province and have been living there for at least six months as of the date of marriage registration. Applications can be submitted within one year of the marriage registration date at the administrative welfare center of the applicant's town, township, or neighborhood.
The support is provided as a one-time payment of 1 million won to cover the cost of purchasing home appliances and furniture for the couple's new household. The city will review the submitted applications and eligibility requirements before providing the support funds to qualified recipients.
Detailed application requirements and a list of required documents can be found on the Yeongju City Hall website.
