"Unreported Excavation Work Can Lead to Disaster"... Daesung Energy Launches Pre-Notification Promotion Campaign
Daesung Energy (CEO Park Moonhee) announced on May 21 that it has launched an intensive campaign to promote the "Pre-Notification System for Excavation Work" in cooperation with Daegu Metropolitan City and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, aiming to prevent city gas accidents caused by unreported excavation work.
This campaign focuses on raising public awareness of the importance of reporting excavation work by utilizing 10 large electronic display boards and 64 bulletin boards inside subway stations for a period of six months at locations with high vehicle and pedestrian traffic, in coordination with local authorities.
In particular, the electronic display board at Gyesan Five-way Intersection delivers the message "Pre-notification of excavation work is essential! The first step toward safe city gas," emphasizing the necessity of reporting before excavation. It also visually highlights the dangers of explosion and leakage accidents that can result from damage to city gas pipelines, thereby raising public awareness of these risks.
The campaign is being carried out as a model case of public-private cooperation in safety management, with Daesung Energy and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation directly planning and producing the content, and Daegu Metropolitan City providing its public promotional media free of charge.
Kim Jongyun, Head of the Gas Solution Division at Daesung Energy, stated, "Despite ongoing promotional efforts, the pre-notification compliance rate among some construction companies remains low. Through this campaign, we hope to establish a culture of reporting excavation work and encourage citizens to voluntarily participate in city gas safety."
An official from Daegu Metropolitan City said, "Reporting excavation work is a basic safety procedure that protects the lives and property of citizens. We will continue to do our best to create a safe urban environment in cooperation with Daesung Energy."
Meanwhile, Daesung Energy, which prioritizes field-oriented safety management as its top management policy and is dedicated to the safe supply of city gas and hydrogen, is taking the lead in ESG management by fostering a culture of safety through cooperation with the local community.
