To this end, the city will collaborate with Yongin Severance Hospital, located near the center, to provide technical consulting, testbed access, and joint research support for companies.
Previously, the city designated the Yeongdeok Startup Support Center as an 'Artificial Intelligence (AI)·Semiconductor Specialized Center.' This center is currently focused on nurturing companies involved in AI model development and semiconductor design and manufacturing. The city collaborates with specialized institutions such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and the Yongin Digital Trade Support Center (deXter) to provide R&D consulting and export marketing support.
The main center in Kimryangjang-dong, Cheoin-gu, is currently considering whether to specialize in advanced materials, components, and equipment. The city will comprehensively evaluate the specialized operations of the Yeongdeok and Dongbaek centers before finalizing the specific direction for specialization.
In particular, the city plans to introduce acceleration programs at each center to support early-stage startups, providing full-cycle growth support from company discovery to mentoring and investment linkage. Starting next month, the Dongbaek Center will begin recruiting acceleration operators and specialized companies.
Meanwhile, to reduce the burden of center usage fees for tenant companies, the city has decided to apply the lowest rate stipulated in the 'Yongin City Public Property Management Ordinance' to the main center and the Yeongdeok Center.
