Deloitte Korea Group and Korean Accounting Association Successfully Hold Joint Seminar on "The Future of Corporate Governance 2025"
Discussing Response Strategies for Boards and Audit Committees
Amid Rapid Changes in the Governance Environment
Deloitte Korea Group announced on May 12 that it had successfully concluded the seminar "The Future of Corporate Governance 2025," which was held jointly with the Korean Accounting Association at Two IFC, Seoul International Financial Center, Yeouido, Seoul, on May 9.
At this seminar, major issues and response strategies that companies will face in a rapidly changing governance environment were shared. In the first session, Cho Dongchul, President of the Korea Development Institute (KDI), analyzed the impact of economic trends and policy changes under the Trump administration on the Korean economy under the theme "Key Prospects for the Korean Economy in 2025." He especially addressed structural challenges such as declining productivity and labor market rigidity, offering insights into the medium- and long-term economic challenges.
In the second session, Kim Hanseok, Head of the Center for Corporate Governance Development at Deloitte Korea Group, gave a presentation on "Financial Relevance of Companies with Excellent Governance and Key Global Board and Audit Committee Trends." Kim analyzed the impact of corporate governance on financial performance and introduced this year's key global board trends and audit committee priorities. He especially emphasized that robust governance is a fundamental basis supporting a company's core strength, and stated that an effective governance system enables boards and audit committees to effectively oversee top management and enhance the quality of strategic decision-making.

View original imageIn the third session, Sohn Hyuk, Chair of the Internal Control and Governance Improvement Committee of the Korean Accounting Association and Professor at the Department of Accounting and Taxation at Keimyung University, explained through various cases how the role and expertise of accounting professionals in internal accounting management systems impact the transparency and reliability of accounting information. In the fourth session, Lee Seungyoung, Leader of the Asset Development and Data Analytics Group at Deloitte Korea Group, presented "Case Analysis and Strategies for Strengthening Internal Controls to Prevent Fund Incidents," diagnosing key risk factors based on fund incident cases and outlining practical internal control measures.
Additionally, examples of group companies' fund incident risk assessments and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based demo related to fund flow and accounting flow reconciliation were showcased. This demo introduced the latest AI technology applications, demonstrating how real-time analysis and anomaly detection of fund and accounting data can be used to proactively identify risks in corporate fund flows and effectively strengthen internal control systems.
In the final session, Jang Jeongae, Advisor at the Center for Corporate Governance Development at Deloitte Korea Group and Professor at Ajou University Law School, discussed "A Review of Recent Amendments to the Commercial Act," presenting the key contents of the amendments, their practical impact on corporate governance, and supplementary measures to enhance the effectiveness of the system.
