Seocho-gu Creates Banpocheon Deck Walking Path... Reborn as an Emotional Waterside Space
Seocho-gu, Seoul announced on May 11 that it has newly renovated the deck walking path, rest areas, and observation decks along the Banpocheon Stream walking trail between Banpo Sports Complex and the Simsang Memorial Culture Center, as part of its initiative to transform the Banpocheon area into a "waterside emotional city."
A deck walking path has been constructed along the section connecting Banpo Sports Complex and Simsang Memorial Culture Center, and five rest areas have been installed along the trail, creating a healing space where visitors can enjoy both walking and relaxation.
The rest areas feature skywalks made of transparent tempered glass on the floor, allowing visitors to experience the nature of Banpocheon Stream vividly through the transparent spaces. To enrich the signature Forsythia Path of the Banpocheon walking trail, 4,500 forsythia saplings have been newly planted, and 2,000 pink evening primroses have been planted in empty spaces.
The district expects that, with the new deck walking path and rest areas, residents will be able to stroll along the cherry tree-lined trail during the day and enjoy a cozy, healing atmosphere with ambient lighting at night.
Seocho-gu also plans to create a cultural leisure space along the lower reaches of Banpocheon Stream by improving green spaces and facilities, aiming to make it an attractive leisure destination for many residents.
